Campbell River City Council is looking at adjusting the fire services budget after several years of constraint. City Manager Deborah Sargent says council is looking at increases related to shift coverage and auxiliary training. “The City of Campbell River costs for auxiliary firefighter training continue to go up,” states Sargent. “What we are trying to do with the fire services base budget adjustments is recognize that there are some real pressure points in this budget and to align those pressure points with actual costs to ensure that our ongoing basis, our fire service levels can be maintained.”Sargent says the changes could come into effect in the 2017 civic budget.
