B-C government says it is confident it’s complying with international trade obligations, despite a U-S challenge against the province on wine sales in the province’s grocery stores. Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training Minister Shirley Bond says trade agreements like NAFTA allow for a number of private wine outlets that sell only B-C wine. She says the number of liquor stores selling imported alcohol has increased significantly since 1987, from 344 to about 11-hundred today. U-S Trade Representative Michael Froman says the province’s regulations are giving B-C’s wines a substantial competitive advantage.
