Canadian softwood lumber producers have joined Trade Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne on a trip to China aimed at finding an alternative trade market to the U-S. Currently, as much as 70 per cent of Canada’s softwood lumber is shipped to the U-S, but American producers have complained the product unfairly floods their market. On Thursday, U-S President Donald Trump lashed out at Canadian trade practices, accusing Canada of taking advantage of the U-S in the lumber, energy and dairy sectors.
