Officials say flames from B-C’s ongoing wildfires have destroyed more than 300 buildings and charred about 42-hundred square kilometres since April 1st. Emergency Management B-C says 71 of the buildings were homes, while more than 100 were outbuildings like sheds and barns. Spokesman Robert Turner says the hardest hit areas have been the Cariboo region, the Thompson-Nicola region and the Ashcroft Indian Band. Kevin Skrepnek with the B-C Wildfire Service says hot, dry weather is expected to increase fire activity in the coming days.
