Starlight Shopping and Big Truck Parade

It's that time of year again - Downtown Campbell River BIA will be hosting their Starlight Shopping and Big Truck Parade.

5:00

*Free Glow Sticks were handed out for the first 300 children at Spirit Square

* The Fire Pit at Spirit Square always a welcome additon, kept families warm and toasty

* Easy Street featuring Annie Handley & Dave Davendish performed at Spirit Square

* Shoo Shoo the Clown worked her magic at Spirit Square

* Illuminated Angels- this mom and daughter duo on stilts dressed as angels and wrapped in lights enthralled the crowds.  They were sponsored by Berwick By The Sea and Royal LePage Advance Realty

* Town Crier, Judith McFarlane, handed out event schedules and made sure Santa and the Mrs. made their way to Spirit Square Stage for the Light Up.

* Children enjoyed crafts at the Art Gallery until 7:00

6:00pm

* The last truck arrived with Santa, Mrs. Claus and Elves

* 300 free suckers were given to the first 300 children

* Mayor Andy Adams and 97.3 the Eagle's Steve Rossner welcomed everyone and helped the winner of the Eagle "Ride With Santa" contest to light the Christmas Tree.

* Six big trucks were on Display at Tyee Plaza - Aztec Freight, Spyk & Son Projects, Brown's Bay Resort, Autumn Hills Farm, Bill Howich Chrysler and Home Depot.

* Annie Handley & Dave Davendish performed on stage until 7:15

* Pacifica Ukes, A Unique Ukele Ensemble, delighted crowds in Tyee Plaza

Families enjoyed pictures with Santa - in  store #1035 Sponsored by Island Fever Travel with photographer Grant Jones.

Photos were by donation.  $276.00 in cash and non-perishable food items were collected for the Campbell River Food Bank.

THROUGHOUT THE EVENING

Salvation Army - in front of Shoppers Drug Mart - gave free hot chocolate & hand-made sugar cookies; carollers sang and coats were collected.

Most stores were open until 11:00 and a night of fantistic shopping was enjoyed by all!
