The provincial government has released a budget it plans to build a campaign on heading into this spring’s election. Finance Minister Mike de Jong tabled his government’s fifth consecutive balanced budget on Tuesday, saying that B-C’s balance sheet is the envy of the nation. The 50 billion dollar financial plan combines tax breaks with a number of carefully targeted spending boosts, and slashes medical service premiums by 50 per cent starting on January 1st, 2018. Opposition Leader John Horgan says the budget is just the B-C Liberals trying to distract voters ahead of the election on May 9th.
