A proposed class-action lawsuit filed against the B-C government and the provincial Liberal party alleges misuse of taxpayers’ money for partisan advertising. Two Vancouver lawyers filed a notice of claim in B-C Supreme Court alleging the government spent up to 15 million dollars last year on ads that enhanced the B-C Liberal Party’s image. The lawyers say the party should reimburse the province for any commercials that a court finds are partisan. Advanced Education Minister Andrew Wilkinson says the government was merely informing people about important services and programs, such as its response to the opioid drug crisis.
