              Researchers at the University of British Columbia are on a quest to understand why some strains of marijuana smell more earthy — or have hints of lemon or pine than others. Professor Jorg Bohlmann says his recent study uncovered 30 genes within the cannabis genome that are responsible for creating aroma and flavour. Defining the different aroma variations will allow producers to control what they grow, and ultimately help consumers understand what they’re buying.
