Green headquarters in Victoria was filled with loud applause and cheering as the party made historic gains. At the outset of the campaign, leader Andrew Weaver made it his mission to expand his party’s presence in the legislature, saying that if he was the only Green elected, he wouldn’t run again. He will now have two fellow M-L-A’s — including the party’s former interim leader and its deputy leader. Christin Geall, who ran for the Greens in 2001, says she was “ecstatic” with the results that she never believed were possible.
