Thousands more absentee ballots will be counted today in a step towards determining the final results of British Columbia’s tight election. Tallying of the ballots began yesterday, and Elections B-C says there are now final counts for 16 ridings — with the Liberals winning 11 and the New Democrats five. Recounts have also concluded in the Courtenay-Comox and Vancouver-False Creek ridings, though absentee ballots still need to be counted in both. Currently New Democrat Ronna-Rae Leonard is up by 13 votes in Courtenay-Comox, while Liberal Sam Sullivan is leading by 569 in Vancouver-False Creek.
