First Nations drummers led the ceremony as an N-D-P government was sworn-in after 16 years as the Opposition. John Horgan was sworn in as premier after gaining a one-seat advantage over the Liberals due to an agreement with the Green party following the May election. Horgan said his government will offer families economic relief, beef up health care and education, and create good jobs across the province. Green party Leader Andrew Weaver congratulated Horgan and his cabinet and said the minority government offers a historic opportunity to put partisan politics aside.
