B-C tourism officials say they’ve had mixed feedback so far on the impact of this summer’s wildfires on the travel industry. Destination B-C’s Maya Lange says most evidence of a slowdown has been anecdotal and financial data won’t be ready for another few months. Evacuation orders and restrictions to backcountry parks — particularly in the Interior — have affected some service providers. But visitor numbers remain on track and Lange says that could mean people are just changing their plans about where to go in the province rather than cancelling their trips entirely.
