Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for B-C’s south coast ahead of the long weekend. It says temperatures will start to climb today and through the weekend into the low 30s as an unseasonably strong ridge of high pressure builds over the province. There is a possibility for outflow winds to develop, which would carry smoke from the wildfires in the Interior to the south coast, including Metro Vancouver, Greater Victoria and the Fraser Valley. Current forecasts suggest the hot weather will last until at least Tuesday.
