B-C’s minority New Democrat government is set to table a throne speech on Friday outlining its political blueprint. The return to the legislature comes after months of tension, upheaval and backroom machinations when the May election failed to produce a clear winner. Deputy Premier and Finance Minister Carole James says the new government intends to make good on its promises, including banning corporate and union donations to political parties and cutting — and eventually eliminating — medical services premiums. The N-D-P formed a minority government under Premier John Horgan after ousting the B-C Liberals — that were one seat shy of a majority — in a confidence vote with the support of the Greens.
