A driver in Vancouver has learned the hard way — twice –that it doesn’t pay to be distracted behind the wheel. The unnamed driver was slapped with two hefty distracted driving fines totalling 736-dollars, with the infractions happening just six blocks apart Thursday afternoon. The Vancouver Police Traffic Unit say they pulled over a Hyundai Accent driver at the busy intersection of Granville Street and West Broadway and issued a 368-dollar fine for using an electronic device — yet eight minutes later the driver was pulled over again for the same infraction. Police shared a picture of the tickets on social media, calling the incident “expensive and dangerous,” adding that the person will be hit with eight demerit points.
