Solicitor General Mike Farnworth has announced the details of public consultations on how the province should regulate sales of recreational marijuana. Farnworth says there will be a phone survey and a website will be open until November 1st for residents to provide suggestions on how best to protect young people, neighbourhoods and roads after Canada legalizes non-medical cannabis next July. He says the federal government’s timeline for change is ambitious and the province wants public consultations done in time for spring legislation. Farnworth adds the age limit for purchasing recreational pot will be consistent across the province but retail and licensing may be different in different municipalities.
