B-C’s Forests minister says work is underway to salvage timber from a number of fire zones after the worst wildfire season on record in the province. Doug Donaldson says an estimated 53 million cubic meters was torched in the wildfires but he adds that is just an estimate to be further refined when crews get on the ground. Donaldson says there is no question timber supply to sawmills will be impacted although he notes not all of that timber will be a total loss. He says fires burn in different ways and temperatures so there should be a lot of salvageable timber in the wildfire zones.
