This week’s release of data from the 2016 census is expected to show immigrants making up a larger share of the Canadian population. It will also offer insights into how they, their children and their grandchildren are making ends meet. Wednesday’s release will be the first to include information from the mandatory long-form questionnaire, which made a return after a 10-year hiatus. When that survey was replaced with a voluntary form by the Conservative government, Statistics Canada quietly kept the mandatory version on life support
