B-C’s New Democrats and Greens say they will both campaign in favour of electoral reform ahead of next fall’s referendum to change the province’s voting system. The minority N-D-P government, supported by three members of the Green party, is poised to pass legislation that paves the way for the referendum on November 30th, 2018. The Opposition Liberals say they will oppose legislation on the grounds that it is biased against the current first-past-the-post electoral system. The New Democrats promised electoral reform during last spring’s election campaign.
