Protesters gathered at a federal office in Victoria and a courthouse in Vancouver on Thursday in support of activists occupying a fish farm. The campaign fell on the same day Marine Harvest sought an injunction to block environmentalists and First Nations from occupying the farm east of Port Hardy. The company says it has delayed its business for many weeks to ensure the safety of activists and its staff, but it can not wait any longer. Fish farm opponent and biologist Alexandra Morton says wild salmon near fish farms are at high risk of contracting diseases.
