Premier John Horgan says he wants to fix what he calls the broken social contract between the logging industry, government and B-C communities. The N-D-P premier made the comments while speaking to the Truck Loggers Association’s convention in Victoria. He says the problem stems from Liberal government policies that allowed forest companies to ship timber to mills of their choice, hurting some local communities and small contractors. Horgan didn’t promise any changes in policy, but says his government is awaiting recommendations of an industry sustainability review.
