B-C’s Ministry of Agriculture says the first batch of vaccines to protect pet rabbits from a quick-spreading deadly disease has arrived from Europe. The vaccines against rabbit haemorrhagic disease are being distributed to 50 veterinary clinics across the province. The ministry ordered the vaccines last month from a manufacturer in France, after the disease was diagnosed for the first time in B-C with a case on Vancouver Island. The vaccine is aimed at protecting against the extremely infectious and lethal disease, which causes internal bleeding and organ damage in rabbits.
