Do you remember in the movie Home Alone when the McCallister family were on the plane making their way to Europe when all of a sudden, Kevin’s mom comes to the realization that she forgot something? KEVIN! She forgot Kevin. I think we can both agree that we’ve forgotten something at Christmas. I can recall this one story a number of years ago where we were all gathered at my in-laws place for Christmas Eve. It was quite a number of years ago now because my wife’s Grandmother was still with us, and she was in her early 80’s at the time. My wife and I were still just dating at the time and we were all deep into the Christmas ‘Spirits’ if you know what I mean and were being incredibly obnoxious. I mean incredibly obnoxious. My wife’s Grandmother was not impressed with us at all, but we were all having such a great time, it really didn’t seem to matter. We laughed and laughed and laughed. It was one of our best Christmas get togethers ever. But traditionally at Christmas time, when the meal is done, two or three of us are always chosen to do the dishes. What’s funny about this particular Christmas, is that each and every one of us had a Home Alone moment. NONE of us could remember WHO did the dishes. But they were done. For all we know, it could have been one of Santa’s Elves that came and did it for us. To this day, we still have no idea, but we still laugh about it and remember how much fun we had that night. And I know what you’re thinking. Grandma? I highly doubt it. In fact, if memory serves me correctly, she caught a ride and left early. Oh my gosh she was mad. But I know she’s looking down on us now and smiling. Only she knows who did the dishes that night, and that’s okay with us. Happy Holidays.
